Peanut butter desserts have always had a special place in my heart(and stomach). I tend to love just about anything involving peanut butter actually. These dates are no exception. They taste like a sweet and delicious dessert but they are made from simple, wholesome ingredients. They are totally customizable. You can add any toppings you like! I’ve had them with coconut flakes, hemp seeds, chia seeds, and dark chocolate drizzle.
Dates are a food that I never really used before switching to a plant-based diet. Now I couldn’t imagine life without them. These sweet little fruits are a great source of natural sweetness. They work great to sweeten up desserts, baked goods, beverages, and more. Using natural sugars from fruits is such a healthy decision because you digest the sugar with fiber which means your body recognizes it and it won’t cause your blood sugar to spike.
This recipe is still nutrient dense even though it tastes like candy.The ground flax seed provides you with an array of healthy vitamins and minerals. If you top them with hemp seeds or chia seeds you will add even more nutrients including a source of complete protein. Most importantly there isn’t anything bad in them so you can enjoy a sweet treat without feeling guilty and bloated afterwards. I hope you enjoy these little bites of goodness as much as I do. These sweet treats are made without any artificial sweeteners. You can enjoy them for dessert guilt-free.
- 5 medjool dates, pitted and halved
- 1/4 cup natural creamy peanut butter
- 2 tsp agave nectar
- 2 tsp ground flax seed
- dark chocolate drizzle
- coconut flakes
- hemp seeds
- chia seeds
In a small bowl mix together peanut butter, agave nectar, and ground flax seed until smooth.
Add a heaping spoonful of the peanut butter mixture to each date half. Sprinkle with any toppings desired. Enjoy!
